The Head of the Dart SUP Challenge is the season opener for national SUP events in the UK, with experienced paddlers training throughout the winter looking forward to their first race and new paddlers looking to get involved to complete as a personal challenge.
Our aim is for a warm and welcoming event offering an inclusive environment for paddlers, whether they are racing or taking part in the leisure fleet. We aim to run a well organised and smooth event both before and on the day, as we know this is important and makes for an enjoyable experience for all. We want everyone to finish the event with a smile and offer a finisher medals along with timings to all paddlers taking part.
This year, our results will be shared with GB SUP National Series who will merge the Elite / Advance paddler and Age Group categories (14″ and 12’6″) to announce results for the 1st GB SUP National Series Distance race.
By sharing the results, this does not alter the ethos of the Head of the Dart SUP Challenge and allows those looking to step into SUP racing the platform to participate in the UK largest SUP event.
1st Place in the HOTD Age Group Category MAYBE different to 1st Place in the same Age Group for the GBSUP results. This is due to HOTD having a separate Elite / Advanced paddler category for both 14″ and 12’6″ who are excluded from winning 1st Place HOTD Age Group trophy. They are however eligible for 1st Place in Age Category for GBSUP positions. All paddlers (Age Group and Elite/Advanced) will start at the same time.
E.g. Joe Blogs, who is 34, enter’s 14″ Elite / Advance (Open Age Group) and comes 1st. John Smith, who is 38, enter’s 14″ Age Group and finishes just after Joe Blogs resulting in him being 1st in the 18-39 Age Group Category for HOTD event.
For GBSUP results, both categories (Elite/Advance and Age Group) are merged which means that Joe Blogs would get 1st Place for GBSUP in the Age Group (18 to 39) and John Smith would get 2nd place.
